For those of you American rock fans that only remember Whitesnake from SLIDE IT IN, and the 1987 monster WHITESNAKE, the bands beginnings were full of blues and soul, and it all started in the late 70’s.
After the demise of Deep Purple in 1976, Coverdale went on his way with a couple of soulful solo albums, before putting together the band Whitesnake. David’s version of the blues classic “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City” was on their debut release SNAKEBITE, and it instantly became a hit in the UK, and propelled the band to success around the UK and then Europe, and then over to Asia. The US, was a little slow on the up take.
This is a promo clip of the band performing “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City”, the original studio version from SNAKEBITE. You can hear the expanded live version from 1980 at the end of hour 1 in this weeks Noize Faktory.
